Diamond wire saw, also known as diamond wire, refers to the use of electroplating process or resin bonding method to fix diamond abrasive on the metal wire.
The early wire saw processing technology used bare metal wires and free abrasives. During the processing, the abrasives were added to the metal wire and the workpiece by a third party to produce a cutting effect. This technique has been successfully used in the processing of silicon and silicon carbide. In order to further shorten the processing time, and to process other hard substances and difficult-to-machine ceramics, diamond abrasives are fixed to the metal wire in a certain way, resulting in fixed diamond wire saws.
1. Electroplating type: A linear superhard material tool made of a metal wire (usually nickel and nickel-cobalt alloy) is deposited on the metal wire by electroplating, and a diamond abrasive is consolidated in the metal. The metal coating is the bond and the diamond abrasive is used for the cutting process.
Electroplated diamond wire saws can be made into different diameters and lengths according to needs; wire saws can be installed on different equipment to form different processing methods, such as reciprocating cycle (saw frame) type, high-speed band saw type, wire cutting type, etc. For the processing of hard and brittle materials, the wire saw can not only cut thin slices, but also process curved surfaces, and can also be used for the training of small holes, and its application prospects are broad. 2. Resin type: The diamond abrasive is consolidated on the metal wire by using resin as a bonding agent.
